Day 7: Do You Love Me?
Devotional Thought
This wasn’t just a conversation—it was a moment of deep, personal healing. Three times Peter had denied Jesus. Now, three times Jesus gives Peter the opportunity to declare his love. Not to shame him, but to restore him.
Jesus doesn’t gloss over Peter’s failure. He addresses it—tenderly, truthfully, and redemptively. “Do you love me?” It’s the question that matters more than any accomplishment, mistake, or reputation. And it’s the same question Jesus still asks us today.
Love is more than emotion—it’s devotion. And Jesus ties Peter’s love directly to action: “Feed my sheep.” In other words, If you love me, take care of my people. Resurrection life isn’t just about personal revival—it’s about pouring into others.
Peter wasn’t disqualified by his failure—he was being prepared for his future. Jesus saw the bold, Spirit-filled leader Peter would become. But before the mission, there needed to be a moment of grace. Before Peter could feed others, he needed to be healed himself.
Let this be your moment, too. Jesus knows your failures. And He also knows your love. Today, He’s not asking you to prove yourself. He’s asking, “Do you love me?” And if the answer is yes, He has work for you to do.
Reflection Points
1. In what ways can you relate to Peter’s feelings of failure or unworthiness?
2. How does Jesus’ question, “Do you love me?” challenge or encourage you today?
3. What might “feeding His sheep” look like in your current season of life?
Practical Applications
1. Respond in prayer
Take a few minutes and speak directly to Jesus. Tell Him you love Him, and let Him speak grace back into your soul.
2. Serve someone today
Offer encouragement, meet a practical need, or send a message that reminds someone of their value to God.
3. Reflect on your calling
Ask God to show you where He’s calling you to serve others out of love for Him. Write down what you sense.
