Day 12: Breaking Bread, Building Faith
Devotional Thought
On the road to Emmaus, two disciples walked with the resurrected Jesus without realizing who He was. They shared their grief, confusion, and shattered hopes. But everything changed at the table.
When Jesus broke the bread, their eyes were opened. They saw Him—not just a man, not just a teacher, but the Risen Lord. In that ordinary act—something they’d seen Him do countless times— they experienced resurrection revelation.
The table became a holy place. The bread became a reminder of brokenness and restoration. And the presence of Jesus turned their despair into joy. It wasn’t a sermon that opened their eyes. It was communion. Relationship. Presence.
Sometimes, we look for God in the dramatic, but miss Him in the daily. Jesus still reveals Himself around tables—in conversations, in shared meals, in quiet reflection, in acts of gratitude. He meets us in the ordinary and makes it sacred.
If you feel like your hope has been dim or your vision of Jesus has grown blurry, take time to sit with Him again. Break the bread. Give thanks. And trust that He still opens eyes.
Reflection Points
1. How has Jesus revealed Himself to you in ordinary or unexpected ways?
2. What tables in your life—physical or relational—can become places of divine encounter?
3. Are you making room in your schedule and heart for personal moments with Jesus?
Practical Applications
1. Set a place for Jesus
Intentionally carve out time today to sit quietly, pray, and invite His presence, as if you were sitting across the table from Him.
2. Share a meal with purpose
Invite someone to coffee, lunch, or dinner with the goal of sharing spiritual encouragement or gratitude.
3. Create a moment of communion
Take communion at home or with a friend/family member, remembering that Jesus is present as you remember His sacrifice and victory.
