Day 4: Finding Rest in God's Presence
True rest goes beyond physical relaxation—it's a state of being at peace in God's presence. Moses understood this when he said he wouldn't move forward without God's presence. David, too, found restoration for his soul in the gentle guidance of his Shepherd.
Today, focus on cultivating an awareness of God's presence throughout your day. Set reminders on your phone or place sticky notes in visible places with the phrase "God is here." When you see these reminders, take a deep breath and acknowledge God's presence with you.
Also, consider how you can make space for extended time in God's presence. Could you wake up 15 minutes earlier for quiet time? Or take a "prayer walk" during your lunch break? Remember, time with God isn't a task to check off—it's the very source of the rest and margin you're seeking to create in your life.
Reflection Questions:
- How often do you intentionally cultivate an awareness of God’s presence in your daily life?
- In what ways do you find your soul restored, as described by David in Psalm 23?
- What might be obstacles preventing you from spending extended time in God’s presence?
Application:
Decide on one practical change you can make to create more space for God’s presence in your day. Whether it's waking up earlier or taking a prayer walk, put it into practice and observe the impact on your sense of rest and peace.
