Prayer Focus - Our City

Read the Scripture, write down your Observations and Applications.

Prayer

Verse 7 of Jeremiah 33 calls the people of God to work for the good and flourishing our the city in which they live. What is your attitude toward Piscataway, and toward the city you live in? Do you regularly think about ways in which God might be able to work in you to bring about good within your neighborhood, community, and city?

Doesn’t this make sense? Shouldn’t the people of God be those most ready and willing to cultivate the good and beautiful in our cities? God commands and invites us to not just know the truth of Jesus, but to let that truth inform the way we live and move, how we treat other people, how we use our time and resources - all to bring light into darkness, truth against lies, relief to brokenness.

As we pray for our city, we ask that we would seek the true goodness of our city, for every person, neighborhood, and business. We pray that we wouldn’t let frustration or despair with current circumstances cause us to give up on the place in which God has placed us for His purpose and glory. We pray that we would have eyes to see and hearts to serve the hurting, broken, and needy among us, bringing all to the hope and truth of Jesus.

Take time and pray over our country from your Observations and Applications. Feel free to write your prayer below.
