Day 5: Joy in What Awaits
Simeon waited to see the baby Messiah. We wait for something far greater: the return of our risen Savior. One day, we will see Jesus face to face. All tears wiped away. All pain gone. All shame erased. Every promise fulfilled. This isn't wishful thinking; it's the guaranteed hope of every believer. Until that day comes, we live with joyful expectation, praying with John, "Come, Lord Jesus." This hope changes how we live today. It compels us to share the good news. It sustains us through suffering. It reminds us that our current struggles are temporary, but our joy in Christ is eternal. As you enter a new year, don't just set goals for success or comfort. Live with your face toward the east, longing for the day when Christ makes all things new.
Reflection Questions:
- What do you most look forward to when thinking about Christ’s return?
- How does the promise of eternity with God affect your present struggles?
- In what ways can you remind yourself and others of this hope daily?
Application Points:
- Reflect on the future hope we have in Christ and journal about what it means to you.
- Share the promise of eternal life with someone who may not know Jesus yet.
- Set a spiritual goal for this new year that focuses on eternal significance rather than temporary success.
