Day 4: God's Presence in Suffering

Jun 19, 2025

This familiar psalm takes on new depth when we're walking through dark valleys. David, who faced numerous hardships, declares his trust in God's guidance and protection even in the presence of enemies.

Notice that David doesn't say "if I walk through the valley," but "when I walk through the valley." Suffering is a part of life, but so is God's presence with us in that suffering. He doesn't just meet us on the other side – He walks with us through the darkness.

Today, imagine yourself as the sheep in this psalm. Where in your life do you need to experience God as your shepherd? How can you rest in His provision and protection, even in challenging circumstances? Take time to be still and know that He is God. Ask Him to make His presence real to you today, especially in areas where you feel afraid or alone.

Reflection Questions:

- Where in your life do you struggle to recognize God's presence?

- How can you develop trust in God's provision and protection through your current struggles?

Application: Take some quiet time today, visualizing yourself as a sheep under God's care. Write a prayer asking Him to help you rest in His protection and provision.
