Day 1: Hope in the Darkness

Jun 16, 2025

In our darkest moments, when despair threatens to overwhelm us, God's word reminds us that hope is not lost. The author of Lamentations, likely Jeremiah, pours out his anguish, feeling bereft of peace and happiness. Yet in the midst of this pain, he chooses to remember God's steadfast love and faithfulness.

Today, reflect on times when you've felt hopeless. How did God meet you in those moments? Remember that even when we can't see or feel it, God's mercies are new every morning. His faithfulness doesn't depend on our circumstances or emotions.

Take a moment to write down three ways God has been faithful to you in the past. Let these memories anchor your hope for the future. No matter how dark things seem, choose to declare, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will hope in him."

Reflection Questions:

- When was a time you felt enveloped by darkness, and how did God reveal His presence to you during it?

- What are some specific instances where you've seen God's new mercies in your life?

Application:

Write down three instances of God's faithfulness in your past. Place this list somewhere visible and revisit it whenever you're feeling hopeless. Let it serve as a reminder that God's faithfulness never wavers.
