Day 2: The Power of Proximity
Jesus consistently chose to be near those society deemed unworthy. In today's passage, we see Him dining with tax collectors and sinners, much to the Pharisees' dismay. Jesus' response is profound: "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." Consider the people or groups you tend to avoid. What fears or prejudices might be holding you back from engaging with them? Jesus calls us to move beyond our comfort zones and draw near to those who need His love most. Today, pray for the courage to step closer to someone you've kept at a distance. Remember, it's in these uncomfortable spaces that God's grace often shines brightest.
Reflection Questions:
- What specific fears or prejudices have kept you from drawing near to certain people or groups?
- When have you experienced God's grace in a situation that initially felt uncomfortable?
Application:
Choose a specific person or community you’ve been avoiding and initiate a meaningful interaction this week. Reflect on how God might use you in that space or how He might impact you through that experience.
