Day 1: The Power of the Resurrection

Apr 21, 2025

Devotional Thought

Easter Sunday may have passed, but the power of the resurrection is meant to continue every day. For the apostle Paul, knowing Christ wasn’t limited to intellectual agreement—it was about experiential transformation. He longed not just to remember the resurrection but to live in its power.

What kind of power is that? It’s the power that rolled away the stone. The power that reversed the finality of death. The power that raised Jesus, not just back to life, but to eternal victory. And Paul is telling us this power isn’t locked in history. It’s alive in you—right now.

But notice that resurrection power isn’t disconnected from suffering. Paul pairs it with sharing in Christ’s sufferings. Why? Because resurrection always follows a cross. In your weakness, God’s strength is revealed. In your suffering, His glory shines. In your surrender, His victory comes.

The resurrection isn’t just a doctrine—it’s your new identity. You are no longer bound by sin, fear, or shame. You’ve been raised to walk in newness of life. You’ve been given power to love radically, serve faithfully, forgive freely, and endure boldly.

You don’t need to live drained, defeated, or distant. You are invited into a deeper knowing of Christ, and that knowing includes resurrection power that fuels your everyday life. Don’t just celebrate the empty tomb—live from it.

Reflection Points

1. What does “resurrection power” look like in your everyday life?

2. In what areas are you still living like you’re in the tomb instead of walking in new life?

3. How can your suffering or struggle become a platform for knowing Christ more deeply?

Practical Applications

1. Pray boldly today

Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with the same power that raised Jesus, especially in one specific area where you feel weak.

2. Speak resurrection truth aloud

Declare at least three truths over your life that affirm your new identity in Christ (e.g., “I am free from sin,” “I am raised with Christ,” “I am filled with power”).

3. Encourage someone else

Send a message to a friend or family member today reminding them of the power of the resurrection working in their life too.
