Day 5: Letting Go of Offense

Jun 27, 2025

Carrying offense is like walking with a stone in your shoe—it might seem small, but over time, it can cause significant damage to your spiritual journey. Paul calls us to "get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger," replacing them with kindness and compassion.

Reflect on any offenses you might be harboring. Are there hurts you've been nursing or grudges you've been justifying? Remember, forgiveness isn't about excusing wrong behavior; it's about freeing yourself from the burden of bitterness. Just as Christ forgave you, you're called to extend that same grace to others.

Today, take a step towards forgiveness. It might be praying for someone who hurt you, choosing to speak well of them, or even reaching out to reconcile if appropriate. As you do, you'll find the freedom Christ intends for you.

Reflection Questions:

- What grudges or offenses are you currently holding onto, and how are they affecting your relationships with others?

- How can grasping Christ’s forgiveness for you inspire you to extend forgiveness to others?

Application:

Reflect on someone you need to forgive. Write a prayer asking God to help you release this offense and grant you a heart of compassion. If appropriate, consider reaching out to this person to reconcile or mend the relationship.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, search my heart and reveal any offenses I'm holding onto. Give me the strength to forgive as You have forgiven me. Replace my bitterness with Your compassion, and my anger with Your peace.
