DAY 3: When Your Perspective Lies, God Corrects
Elijah tells God, “I am the only one left.”
It felt true. His fear was real. Jezebel's threat was real. The danger was real. The loss around him was real. But Elijah's conclusion was wrong.
He was not the only one left. God had preserved seven thousand in Israel who had not bowed to Baal.
Elijah's number was one. God's number was seven thousand.
This is the pattern behind the bait. Fear runs you away from people. Isolation convinces you that you're the only one facing what you're facing. And alone in that cave, every lie sounds like the truth, because there's no one left in the room to tell you otherwise.
Isolation is a liar. The enemy doesn't have to defeat you; he only has to isolate you. And when fear gets you alone, it gets louder.
Sometimes the facts are real, but the conclusion is false.
You may be facing something genuinely difficult. You may be tired, hurt, disappointed, or afraid. But that does not mean God has left you. It does not mean the story is over. It does not mean you are alone.
Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” It does not say you have no understanding. It says not to put the full weight of your life on your limited perspective.
Your perspective is not always reliable. God's word is.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- What conclusion have you reached that God may never have told you to reach?
- Where has fear made something look bigger than it really is?
- Where has isolation made you feel more alone than you actually are?
- Are you leaning on your own understanding more than you are trusting the Lord?
APPLICATION POINTS
- Write down one belief you currently have about your situation.
- Ask yourself, “Did God say this, or did fear and isolation produce this conclusion?”
- Bring that belief to Scripture and prayer.
- Talk to a trusted believer who can help you see clearly.
PRAYER
Lord, correct my perspective where fear and isolation have distorted it. Show me the difference between real facts and false conclusions. Help me trust Your understanding more than my own. Amen.
