About Me
Hello! I’m Beverly Elcock, known as Ms. Beverly to my students.
My love of different cultures and languages led me to pursue a degree and career in International Business and Marketing. However, God had different plans for my life. Towards the end of my studies in 2012, I joined a small company owned by a local pastors’ wife and began tutoring international students and their families in English. As an ESL tutor and teacher, I began developing relationships with Japanese mothers and their children. Though I had previously been interested in Japanese music and animation, God began to stir my heart even more for the Japanese people through these relationships. While business grew each year and I had the chance to make many wonderful friends, I knew there was something more. After having the opportunity to connect with a missionary on the field, I made the decision to answer the call to missions in Japan.
Now I’m serving in Tokyo, Japan as an English conversation teacher at a local Japanese church. Besides providing some secondary income for the local church, I connect with students and build relationships. These relationships are the gateways for preaching the gospel and helping students know the love, forgiveness, and salvation of Jesus Christ!
Japan is a very unique and challenging place to be a Christian and preach the gospel. For that reason, prayer is so important. Here some things you can pray for:

Ministry Update:
I’m back in the states for the next 6 months and I’m excited to connect with family, friends, and those who have been supporting my journey in Japan these past two years. The past few weeks, I've been spending time with my family and catching up on life with my mom, siblings and nieces/nephews. On October 11th, The Japanese National Conference was held in Illinois at Evangel Church, and I was so thankful to be able to attend! The guest speakers, coming all the way from Japan, were the original founders of the AG Japan Fellowship in the USA. It was a wonderful time of worship and fellowship, singing in English and Japanese. I got to see a lot of old friends and make some new ones too! A non-Christian Japanese couple came and gave their life to Christ during the event! They had been faithfully ministered to by an American friend in their community and were moved by the worship and love shown for the Japanese community. This is another example of how simple friendship and serving the community has a huge impact. Praying for more Japanese to be shown the love of Christ through friends and family!
Upcoming Projects:
During the next 6 months, I will be attending conferences, visiting churches, and connecting with individuals to update everyone on the last two years and future changes in my ministry. One of the changes has been that I am moving to a different area of Tokyo to work more closely with Chi- Alpha Japan and minister to college students. This means that my cost of living has greatly increased since I am moving from a suburban area to a more urban area. My monthly budget has now increased to $4,225 a month. Currently, I’m at an average of $1300 a month. I will need to raise the rest within the next 6 months before I can return to ministry in Japan.
